More game notes - How about Secret Concurrent Classes ... the Vampire and the Lycanthrope!

SECRET CONCURRENT CLASSES. These classes are similar to the regular concurrent classes, but they are only visible to others who share that same Secret Concurrent Class. The two Secret CC's are Vampire or Lycanthrope. One can only be EITHER a Vampire OR a Lycanthrope (the player could become one, then renounce it and get the condition "healed" (which is very pricey and difficult), then do the other one. There are TWO Sub-Classes of Vampire or Lycan Secret CC; Vampires have Day Stalkers and Legion of The Night, Lycan's have The Protectorate and The Company of Darkness.

For Vampires, Day Stalkers are of Medium Strength at all times. Legion of the Night are Weak during the day and Very Strong at night.  Each of the subclasses have similar positives and negatives. Each of these secret classes have PRE-REQUISITES for entry.   They require that a player be at least a CAPTAIN in one of the other regular CONCURRENT classes.  In addition to being bitten by either a Vampire or Were-creature respectively, those classes require certain statistics to be changed and altered.

Today's update is all about one of the game's most unique features, The Concurrent Class, and specifically, The Post Guild.

The ULTIMATE CONCURRENT CLASS, THE POST GUILD.

The game has the unique feature of Concurrent Classes ... these are specialized classes that any player can participate in at the same time as their "main" class.  So a Mage could also be a Pirate, or a Fighter could be a Spy.  Today, we're talking about the most difficult CONCURRENT CLASS to get into (along with its two other similar guilds, The Tribunal and the Open Book Society), but also the most powerful. This is should be one of the main goals of all players, to become the highest members possible in these guilds.

Ostensibly, the Post Guild manages…the postal service. It was the very "non-descriptness" of this guild which made it the perfect choice for the international cadre of the most powerful people on Earth, hiding in plain sight.

First, the postal service itself. The Post Guild offers an astounding array of services, from the very, very cheap and common, to the outrageously exotic and expensive. At the cheapest level, affordable to some extent by the local indigenous populace, is inner-city or local area mail. However, the highly pricey delivery is direct-to-individual, no matter where they are in the world. That also comes in 2 price structures; the lower one is to persons who carry a POST GUILD LOCATOR totem. The most expensive version is a direct-to-person delivery to a person WITHOUT a LOCATOR. These are extraordinarily expensive. In varying price ranges, of course, delivery of any type, letter or parcel, is available to…anywhere in the world, and in fact, anywhere in the Multiverse, and TO any person in the Multiverse. Another service the Post Guild provides is the Voice Communication Service…via a device which is usually contained in red painted, glassed-in booths in virtually every Post Guild office! There are even Voice Booths in some rare places (like an occasional one out in the middle of nowhere, like along a roadside, in the middle of a desert, in an icy mountain refuge…and some of these booths are either free, or they have special rates, or connect to special people…also, a few booths "travel" unpredictably from place to place, and those are even more special). Voice calls are seriously expensive, much too much for any commoner but a voice call can be placed to anyone in the Multiverse. The last special service the Post Guild provides is Multiversal Transport. The Post Guild owns and operates the network of worldwide “Porters” (TELEPORT STATIONS) which connect to big cities and key central traffic areas around the globe, allowing individuals and/or cargo to travel vast distances. It is very expensive, the cost increases with distance and commonality.

NOW, ON TO THE POWER OF GUILD!

Again, this is one of the three organizations that are the most powerful the entire world. To gain entrance to this guild, one must be at least a CAPTAIN in THE LAMPLIGHTERS GUILD (a note, the Post Guild is the "Good" guild, and The Tribunal is the "Evil" version and the Open Book Society is the "Neutral" version...they each have "Pre" Concurrent Classes that must be Captained in order to join the top-level Guild). Thus, joining the Post Guild requires Captaincy in The Lamplighters Guild. Similarly, joining the Tribunal requires Captaincy in the Justice Militia, and joining the Open Book Society requires Captaincy in the International Guild of Bureaucrats.

The motto of the Post Guild is "We are Everywhere." Their hail is "May you find Everywhere in you." The Post Guild explains that “Everywhere is not a place, nor even an infinite number of places, Everywhere IS Everything. It is a power, it is the supreme energy which fills all things and binds them together.”

So, what is in it for the player for being a Post guild Member (or a member of The Tribunal or Open Book Society)?

PSIONICS!

This is the PSIONIC CLASS (mental ‘magic’). Among the many powers available is MindFire. A blade or weapon enchanted with MindFire has green or blue or red glowing flame effect, that also allows the player "auto-draw" the blade (it leaps from scabbard to hand) it makes a cool SWISH sound. Of course, each level of the class increases, the MindFire gets more powerful, plus, this is a whole, true PSIONIC class with all the attendant psionic powers just like it were a regular class such as a mage or cleric. These are the most powerful ‘magical’ effects in the entire game.

$30,000+ and still climbing! So, since the goal of the game is to usurp the Empress, let's learn about her!

$30,000+ and still climbing!  So, since the goal of the game is to usurp the Empress, let's learn about her!

In this grand game, with it's 30 year+ game-time span, there's a lot going on.  Throughout the game, The Empress is always there.  She's not an enemy;  in fact, through the vast majority of the game she's an ally.

And she has quite a story of her own.

The Empress Illissa of the Sashire Empire:

A direct-line descendant of The First King of Sashire, Malloran, Illissa was the only child of her father, King Norran Sollomon (known as The Golden King) and Queen Serenti Szion, Princess of Marchland. From a very early age Illissa was rigorously trained in the martial arts, diplomacy, combat, military strategy and all things courtly. In part, this was due to the influence of her father and mother, but by and large it was her own desires and efforts that led to her early dedication. By age ten she was already a master swordswoman, and she attended most diplomatic meetings with her father. At age fifteen, she was promoted on merit to be the youngest officer in the Sashire Military, where she quickly rose in rank, fighting side-by-side on the battlefield with soldiers twice her age.

At age eighteen, she was universally credited as having created the “Empire” of Sashire when she convinced her grandfather on her mother’s side, King Palance of Marchland, to join with Sashire fully as a member-nation. By age twenty, now a highly respected veteran General, the youngest ever recorded, she had brought another four of the Upper Central Valley Kingdoms into the fold as part of the Sashire Empire. Among the common people, she was herself truly ‘The Golden Child’ as she was known, daughter of The Golden King and celebrated as having taken her father’s mighty and prosperous reign to even greater heights. When her father’s health began failing, both mother and father insisted that Illissa take the crown for which she not only was groomed as a child, but that she had rightly won on her own through her actions. At just twenty-three years old, Illissa was crowned First Empress of The Sashire Empire, uniting The West’s most powerful kingdoms under a single banner.

There you are ... now she leads the largest and most powerful empire in the world.  And someday, for the good of that empire, and the world, you, the player, will have to try to ascend the throne in her place.  But she's not going to give it up lightly.  Or, if she can help it ... at all.
